In general, a Drupal version stops receiving support once two newer versions of the platform become available. For example, Drupal 10 will stop receiving support when Drupal 12 is released. Therefore, at this time it is not strictly necessary to migrate from Drupal 10 to Drupal 11, since Drupal 10 continues to receive security support until December 2026 (specifically until December 9, 2026, when Drupal 12 is scheduled to be released).

However, if your Drupal version is 9 or earlier, that means your version is already end-of-life. In other words, no one is working on security patches or functional improvements anymore.

If you are currently on Drupal 10, it is a good idea to start planning the migration to Drupal 11 during 2026.

In addition to the security aspects mentioned above, Drupal 11 offers significant improvements in performance and functionality. It uses more modern versions of PHP (8.3+), Symfony 7, as well as an enhanced editorial experience with CKEditor 5. It also includes more advanced headless capabilities, better module compatibility, and a stronger focus on faster performance.
